We have another post from our series, Shoes from the Past! Did you know that My Glass Slipper has been selling wedding shoes for more than a decade? We’ve seen a lot of bridal shoes come and go, and now we want to show you some of our past bestsellers.
Today we’re looking back on Goddess by Watters and Watters. These strappy bridal shoes were for sale at My Glass Slipper a decade ago! They were a must-have wedding shoe for brides of 2002.
Back in 2002, famed bridesmaid designer brand Watters & Watters got into the bridal shoe business. The Goddess style from the brand’s line of wedding shoes was an instant success, as were several other styles from the line.
So if they were so popular, why isn’t Watters & Watters still making shoes? Our theory points to the sizing: Like so many companies that branch-out from their usual product offerings, Watters had to rely on the advice of other “experts” in the shoe industry to determine the breakdown of sizes. The size breakdown Watters chose could not have been worse. They bought heavily in wides and narrows and were unable to move them even after all the medium width shoes sold out. There are likely other unknown factors that contributed to the discontinuation of the shoe line but the bottom line remains the same: Watters & Watters is a dress company.
Unfortunately this style is no longer available, but at MyGlassSlipper.com, we have some current wedding shoes with a similar look:
What do you think of these wedding shoes from the past? Would you wear them today, or do you think they’re outdated? Tell us what you think on our Facebook page! And if you happened to wear these shoes to your wedding, we’d love to hear from you, too.
