Introducing a new series on our My Glass Slipper blog: Shoes from the Past! Did you know that My Glass Slipper has been selling wedding shoes for more than a decade? We’ve seen a lot of bridal shoes come and go, and now we want to show you some of our past bestsellers. Twice a month, we’ll be sharing some of the popular styles of wedding seasons past.

The first shoe of the past is style 824952 by Calvin Klein. This style dates back a decade to 2002! This open-toe, slingback sandal has both a retro and modern appeal with a vintage-inspired heel post and a unique, contemporary toe strap.

Calvin Klein wedding shoes were on the scene for only three seasons at MyGlassSlipper.com. All the bridal shoe styles from the designer label were quite fashion-forward for the time and well-received by brides.

The geometric styling of the crossover strap was as unique then as it is today.  At My Glass Slipper, we hadn’t seen anything like it before – and we haven’t since.  The quality of the shoes was fantastic.  Made at the same factory as shoes by Vera Wang, Givenchy, and Christian Lacroix, the Calvin Klein brand of wedding shoes were in the upper echelon of what My Glass Slipper had to offer.

Though this shoe was popular, it wasn’t without its issues. The retro look of the heel is chic, but it was problematic for some brides: Many brides complained that they felt the heel post was right under the arch of their foot – a sign that perhaps the heel post was set a little too far forward.

These designer bridal shoes originally sold for a mere $275 back in 2002.  Today that price could be twice as much given the high quality and couture design.

Unfortunately this style is no longer available, but at MyGlassSlipper.com, we have some current wedding shoes with a similar look:

Clara by Kate Spade

Tammie by Brianna Leigh

Lover by Kate Spade

Brooke by Grace

What do you think of these wedding shoes from the past? Would you wear them today, or do you think they’re outdated? Tell us what you think on our Facebook page! And if you happened to wear these shoes to your wedding, we’d love to hear from you, too.
